Zoo Atlanta, Dad's Birthday, and Oakland Tour

It's been a busy month for us. We've been working, site seeing, visiting with family, and trying to get some R&R in there somewhere. We took our first trip to Zoo Atlanta. Jim and I think we haven't been there in almost 20 years. We remembered very little about how it looked, but we think it has changed a lot. We are able to walk to the Zoo from our house, so we got an annual membership. Anyone that visits us can go with us! How's that for an incentive.

I love the picture of the goat at the petting zoo. What a sweet face! I want to take him home and we'll never have to cut the grass. Poor Jim has to buy yet another lawn mower. I think we've owned at least 4 since we bought the house in Orlando 3 years ago.
We went up to Ellijay on my dad's birthday last Saturday. They had a nice crowd at their house--Dan and Gini, Dave and Lois, and Bobby and Donna. It was nice to see Dad on his birthday this year.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Last weekend Kristen and Brian came down and we went to Six Feet Under for lunch and then on the Oakland Cemetary tour. The Oakland Cemetary is an underrated site-seeing destination in Atlanta. There's so much history about the city that you would otherwise never now. Most of the Atlanta mayors are buried there along with prominent Atlantans. The Hurt family has a plot there, which is my great-great-great-great-grandfather (I think I have that right). That's what I've been told anyway. Hurt Plaza downtown and Hurt Park near Five Points were named after the same family. I'd post a picture, but it doesn't seem quite right. Here's us at Six Feet Under.

Here's one shot of the Confederate Memorial.

Tonight we are going to a family wedding. My cousin Michael is getting married in Acworth. We should see my dad's side of the family minus dad and mom. They are in Panama City Beach with friends this weekend. I'll post pics of the wedding at a later time. We're looking forward to seeing everyone tonight.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms! Especially those that can't be with their kids this weekend. We love you! We are going to see Gram for dinner tomorrow afternoon. I'll post this pics later too.

Have a great weekend everyone!
Jim and Katie
