The past month has been a busy one. We ran our first 10K road race, went to Fayetteville for Mother's Day, Acworth for a wedding, Dallas/Oklahoma City for business (Katie), Piedmont Park for Jazz Fest, Zoo Atlanta for Brew at the Zoo, and much more. Atlanta is treating us well!
Jim and I were able to spend Mother's Day with my grandmother this year. We went down to Fayetteville and went out to dinner. It was really special for all of us.
I think our most memorable event must be Brew at the Zoo last Saturday. We went with our friend Evan, who was visiting from Chicago, and a friend of Evan's named Ryan. What a pleasant surprise to find Aaron and Jenny at the event too! We think they were trying to hide from us. :) We had a great time, made some new friends, and enjoyed good beer and wine. It was a totally different crowd from the first time we went to Zoo Atlanta. For one thing, there were no strollers this time! The kangaroos were hopping around. Last time it was hot and they were sleeping. The silverback gorillas were out and eating apples the keeper were throwing to them. The silverback gorillas are by far my favorite exhibit. I'm not sure you will be able to see the animals in the photos because it was getting dark.
I was able to travel to the fabulous Oklahoma City a couple of weeks ago for my company's annual meeting. Coming from a company of 10,000 employees it was amazing to see all 150 employees in the same room. We went to the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial while we were there. (I went with 3 co-workers of mine from the Atlanta office.) It was a sad yet peaceful place. It was much larger than I thought it would be. It takes up the space of 2 city blocks. On that site there is one tree that survived called the Survivor Tree. It's a 90 year old elm that's bark is charred black. Here's a few pictures from our visit.
There's much more to come this month. I'm going back to Oklahoma for work. We are running a 5K in Candler Park. Harry Connick, Jr. concert. Housewarming Party. Shopping with Mom. Father's Day. And most importantly - Jim turns 30!!!!! Have a wonderful weekend!
