All in the Family

This past month has been all about family. From Father’s Day to July 4th we have enjoyed spending our days with family. On Father’s Day we visited Mom and Dad in Ellijay. We went out for lunch and spent some time at their house. It was a really beautiful day. We are so glad to be much closer to them so we can visit more easily.

Later in June we drove to southwest Louisiana for a family reunion. Jim’s brother and sister, Aaron and Lois, and their families were there. We had a really nice time. We don’t get to see Jim’s mom and sister very often, which made it even more special to spend a few days with them. We were about 30 miles north of Lake Charles way out in the country. One day we went to Lake Charles to the Children’s Museum. The kids and the adults played a lot. We celebrated everyone’s birthdays with a party that same night. We had drawn names before the trip to see who we would buy for. Some gifts were more humorous and creative than others. Jim received an awesome new shirt to wear during his beer brewing. It’s a Hawaiian print shirt with beer bottles on it. Our nephew Jacob knows Uncle Jim very well! On Saturday some relatives that live nearby came over for supper. I had not met many of these folks before. They left early and the rest of us had a late night reminiscing and telling stories. Jim and I left around 1AM to go back to the hotel. We left the next day and made it back to Atlanta in under 10 hours. It was quite a record. Thanks to everyone for making the Louisiana trip so wonderful.

Last week Uncle John, Aunt Cheryl and my cousin Howard visited Gram. Jim finally met Howard after 7 years. I had not seen Howard since my cousin (his brother's) wedding in 2004. We went out for dinner and visited with each other at Gram's house. Again, we are thrilled to live close to family and that we are able just drive down after work and see them.

July 4th weekend was so much fun! We ran our 1st Peachtree Road Race with Aaron and 75,000 of our closest friends. We were so amped up from the 6.2 mile long party that we ran the entire thing. There was a band or DJ every quarter mile. The hydrants were open to cool off in. It was such a good community feeling. No walking (except water breaks). We did it in 1:06. I hope we can do that year after year. We met our good friends Chad and Christina and their son Christian in Decatur for the fireworks show later that evening. We rode MARTA twice in one day. Once to the race and once to the fireworks. That’s more than I’ve ridden MARTA in the last 7 years. The fireworks show was fun. We came home and I watched a movie on Netflix (Julie and Julia) and Jim went out to meet some guy friends of his.

We have some good times coming up. We are seeing Jamie Cullum and La Roux in July, O.A.R. and Jack Johnson in August.

Work is going really well for both of us. I’m getting more project work and responsibilities and Jim’s phone is ringing more and more. Check out jameslpaisley.com. We are really proud of this website. Jim is also the first hit on Google for “Atlanta Traffic Lawyer.” Check it out for yourself.

Hugs,
The Paisleys

  1. Great pictures! I can't believe how well the one of y'all running turned out. Luck is everything, especially in photography. We had a great time with everyone in Longville and made many lasting memories. It is unbelievable to think that this was the first time we were all in the same room for the first time in ten years. I can't wait to do it all again next year!

    Thanks for posting,
    Aaron
