Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Jim and I had a fun weekend! One of the high-lights was going to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I had read the book and was very excited to see the movie. The movie did not disappoint. Although the "Harriet mystery" was resolved in a slightly different manner. I kept waiting for them to go somewhere (if you've read the book you'll know what I'm talking about) and they never did. It was a slightly different resolution, but the end result was nearly the same.
The movie was dark and intense much like the book. I love seeing the characters come to life and the small and strange Lisbeth Salander save the day. It's not as often that a girl saves the guy's life, but she does! Lisbeth is a different kind of hero and I love it! She's not the cutesy girl next door or James Bond style of heroine either.
I'm not sure I'll see the second or third movie in the series because I thought the first book was the best story. The first book involved solving a missing person case from 40 years ago. A sixteen year old girl (Harriet) vanishes and the suspects are her own family. The audience discovers the family is completely dysfunctional and abusive in the extreme save for one or two members.
Read the book! and then see the movie. It will also make you want to buy plane tickets to Sweden.
